Google Ads adds in-account gambling certification, but only for some advertisers so far
Google updated its Ads certification process on October 15, letting some advertisers apply for online gambling certification directly from their account instead of a separate Help Center form, though the rollout is incremental and existing certifications aren’t affected.
A new path, buried in Admin
Google quietly updated its Ads certification process on October 15, adding a way for advertisers to apply for online gambling certification directly from inside their Google Ads account instead of going through a separate Help Center form. According to Google’s own policy page, the new option lives under Admin, in a section called Policy > Account, and for now it covers online gambling specifically rather than the full range of certifications Google offers advertisers in regulated categories.
The rollout is deliberately uneven. Google’s own language is explicit that “this feature will be released incrementally to all advertisers over a period of time, and not all advertisers and certification applications will be affected immediately,” which means two operators applying on the same day could have completely different experiences depending on when their account gets switched over. Anyone who doesn’t see the new option yet can still use the Help Center form exactly as before, so nothing about the application process is actually blocked, it’s just that some advertisers get a faster path sooner than others. Existing certifications already granted, along with applications already sitting in review, carry over untouched, Google was explicit that the incremental launch doesn’t reset or re-review anything already in the pipeline.
Arriving right as account health rules got stricter
The change lands against a backdrop where gambling certification has been getting harder to hold onto, not easier. Since March 2026, Google has required an advertiser’s entire account to show good policy health before it qualifies for gambling and games certification in the first place, a standard that ties eligibility to the account’s overall compliance record rather than treating each certification application in isolation. Folding the application itself into the account interface, right as that stricter health requirement has had months to bite, reads less like a convenience update and more like Google building a tighter feedback loop between an account’s standing and its path to certification. For operators already certified, this changes nothing today. For anyone applying fresh or reapplying after a policy issue, where that application lives now says something about how closely Google wants to watch the account health question going forward.
“Moving the application into the account dashboard isn’t just convenience, it’s Google keeping the certification question closer to the account health question that already decides it.”
