Gamdom and Duel crypto casino domain dispute

Offshore crypto platform Gamdom announced the purchase of the domain Duei.com, which visually resembles crypto casino Duel’s official address due to the use of a capital “I” instead of a lowercase “l.” Visitors to this address are now automatically redirected to Gamdom’s website.

What happened

Gamdom announced the domain purchase on X. The post was accompanied by a claim that Duel’s founder, known by the pseudonym Monarch, had allegedly been forced to hand the domain over to a competitor due to financial trouble and debts linked to playing poker.

The message was framed as a statement from Monarch himself, thanking the community for its support and saying the domain had “ended up in good hands.”

A single-character swap like a capital “I” for a lowercase “l” is a classic typosquatting technique, and it works precisely because most users glance at a URL rather than read it character by character. Framing the post as a statement from Duel’s own founder adds a layer that could read as impersonation to anyone who takes it at face value.

Public feud between Gamdom and Duel crypto casino platforms

Context

The post was the latest development in a public feud between the two crypto platforms. Shortly before it, representatives of Duel mocked Gamdom’s owner, Felix, calling him the “worst player” in the platform’s history over a string of losing bets.

As a joke, Duel also introduced a virtual “Inverse Felix Fund” — a fund built around placing bets opposite to Felix’s predictions. According to the platform, this strategy generated a profit of $721,000 on its first day.

For affiliates and traffic sources working the crypto casino vertical, stunts like this are worth watching less for the drama and more for what they signal about brand risk. Redirected typosquat domains complicate attribution tracking, and any campaign sending traffic to either platform should double-check destination URLs manually rather than trusting shortened or copy-pasted links while both brands are actively targeting each other’s identity.

Crypto casino rivalries have always played out partly as marketing theater, but buying a lookalike domain and redirecting its traffic pushes this one closer to brand-confusion territory than a typical social media jab.
