Apple blocks 1xBet’s ONE X Telegram channel on iOS devices
Apple has made the ONE X Telegram channel, linked to gambling operator 1xBet, inaccessible on iPhones and iPads, showing users a notice that cites an App Store content violation without saying what the actual issue was.
iOS-only, and no explanation given
Open the ONE X channel on an iPhone or iPad and Telegram doesn’t load it. Instead there’s a notice citing App Store guideline 1.1, Apple’s rule against objectionable content, with no explanation of what specifically triggered it. The restriction is iOS-only. On Android, desktop, or the web, the same channel loads exactly as it always has, which points to something about how Apple’s own platform rules interact with third-party apps rather than a takedown of the channel itself.
Guideline 1.1 covers material Apple considers offensive, discriminatory, or degrading, including content touching religion, race, nationality, or sexual orientation. None of that is an obvious match for a betting operator’s promotional channel, and Apple hasn’t clarified which post or pattern of posts crossed the line. Telegram itself isn’t blocked, and other channels keep functioning normally on the same devices, so this is narrowly targeted at ONE X specifically rather than a platform-wide sweep.
The second time this has happened to 1xBet
This isn’t the first time. A Telegram channel tied to 1xBet Kazakhstan ran into the same restriction earlier, which suggests either a recurring pattern in how these channels get moderated or a standing policy Apple applies whenever a gambling operator’s Telegram presence crosses some threshold it hasn’t publicly defined. Two incidents pointing at the same operator’s channels, on the same platform, under the same guideline, is enough to call it a pattern rather than a coincidence.
Apple’s App Store guidelines carry separate, specific requirements for gambling apps: proper licensing and permits in every country an app operates in, plus respect for geographic restrictions on where gambling content can even appear. 1xBet has run into geo-targeting and advertising restrictions elsewhere too, including a broadcast ad ban in India that its branding kept showing up around anyway. Whether this Telegram restriction connects to that broader compliance picture or is a narrower content-moderation call, Apple hasn’t said, and the operator hasn’t offered its own explanation either.
“Apple citing ‘objectionable content’ against a betting channel without naming the actual post is either lazy enforcement or a company deliberately not showing its work, neither one inspires much confidence.”
